BIO bio

Dejen Tesfagiorgis in an Eritrean-American comedian working in Brooklyn, born in Wisconsin (cheese heads, heavy drinking, election season hopefuls). Prior to comedy he was a saxophonist and entrepreneur and founded an Admissions startup called ArtsApp, a common app for college-bound musicians to apply to music schools like Juilliard, USC and the Manhattan School of Music. After five years of torturous nights fighting seasonal education budgets, he sold the business and moved to New York to pursue comedy.

While working various tech sales jobs in NYC, he trained in sketch comedy / pilot writing / improv at Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater and the People’s Improv Theater. After leaving Microsoft during the pandemic and submitting pilots and spec scripts to too many contests, he’s excited to be a PBS Writing for Animation fellow with the new series Work it Out Wombats! premiering in 2023. He’s currently a streamer with the kid’s life skills platform Ever Scouts, an putting out new sketches to his YouTube Channel twice a month.

In his spare time he likes playing Fortnite with his wife Iris, producing cerebral hard-hitting sketches with the homie Ben Miller, writing episode bibles for his FOUR pilots (and two spec scripts available upon request), playing saxophone, training Muay Thai, and violating comedy rules of three.
